Since I Found The Metros!

The Metros fueron una de las agrupaciones de Detroit entre las menos conocidas que logró grabar bajo uno de los sellos mas importantes: la Rca Victor. Bajo los auspicios de Joe Hunter y Jack Hashford (Pied Piper productions) los Metros sacaron un LP (Sweetest One) y tres sencillos, todos estrenados entre 1966 y 1967, actuando, al mismo tiempo, como coristas para otros artistas como Lorraine Chandler. Los miembros del grupo fueron Percy Williams, el lider, James Buckman, Robert Suttles y Alfred Mitchell, mientras Ray Monette confesó haber tocado la guitara en todas las canciones. Gordon Dunn parece haber remplazado uno de los miembros originales en una de las ultimas grabaciones. El primer sencillo, "Sweetest One" (Octobre 1966), fue el de mayor exito. RCA produjo en seguida "Since I Found My Baby"/"No Baby" (Marzo 1967): en la primera canción se puede escuchar una poderosa voz de tenor acompañada por un ritmo muy rapido y muy apreciado por los cultores del Northern Soul. El tercer sencillo de Metros con sello RCA fue "The Replacer" b/w "Let's Groove": Larry Banks participó a la composicion en ambos titulos, pero eso no ayudó para que el disco no fallara en lograr un digno reconocimiento y Metros terminaron su contracto con la casa disquera. Metros firmaron en seguida un contracto con el sello Gold Soul y grabaron 4 canciones que quedaron si publicar hasta que Ron Murphy decidió, 21 anos despues, en 1991, sacar dos, "She's Not Everybody's Girl" y "What's Wrong With Your Love", presentandolas con su sello Soul King.
Percy Williams no ha dejado de cantar y escribir canciones. Al momento aparece como miembro integrante del grupo The Elgins.
